Vintage Drawer Bird Art Assemblage | Gallery Wall Shadow Box Decor

This bird shadowbox assemblage is made from a salvaged wooden drawer that has been altered with various art papers and acrylic paint. The colors used in the piece are buttery yellow, a muted apple green, scarlet and ivory.

The bird is crafted from painted and inked art paper, feathers, a vintage button. She is perched on a stylized tree fashioned out of pages taken from a 1930's dictionary, inked and then stacked onto old tinker toys and a vintage spool of thread with its original cotton thread still tightly wound.

Behind the sweet bird, the interior of the drawer is papered with art paper and large paper flowers are "growing" along side the tree. There is a wonderful sun constructed from an old, large wooden button with rays repurposed from a broken, gold metal mesh. The sun was then painted and hung with old wire.

Caring for this delicate piece is easy, but important. As with most original artwork, do not display/store in a humid place, like a bathroom. In the event it collects a little dust, carefully wipe the bottom around the tree base. Use a blow dryer on the lowest, coolest setting to blow away any dust from the rest of the piece, especially the tree.
