Beauty is a State of Mind – Original Mixed Media Fashion & Sewing Shadowbox Assemblage
Step into a whimsical, layered history of style with this one-of-a-kind, double-sided 3D mixed media shadow box. Meticulously handcrafted for fashion lovers, dressmakers, and collectors of the unique, this tactile piece weaves together decades of sewing and style history.
As captured in the frontal view photos, the interior features a dimensional fashion story. Two elegant 1920s silhouettes step out from an authentic "Early Spring Fashions" catalog page from Boston, Mass., dated March 1913.
The shadow box compartments are packed with nostalgic treasures, including vintage hot pink Barbie boots, a miniature, altered purse, retro black heels, an authentic Talon brand "Iron On" Seam Binding package, and a gorgeous vintage button card complete with original purple-gray buttons. A real vintage cloth measuring tape frames the scene, topped with a tag reading "Beauty is a state of mind."
The artistry continues on the reverse side! As shown in photos of the back of the piece, you will find a stunning flat-lay collage showcasing mid-century 1950s fashion illustrations, retro polka dots, vibrant plaid patterns, and classic dressmaker sketches posing the timeless question: "What is the most comfortable garment to wear?"
Every inch of this shadow box is treated with handpainted collage papers, vibrant vintage wallpaper patterns, and meticulous attention to detail. It is a stunning conversation piece perfect for a sewing room studio, a vintage boutique display, or a gallery wall.
